Swine flu is an influenza virus. It is also known as “H1N1 virus”. It mainly originated from pigs & spreads from person to person. Its symptoms are similar to regular flu. It spreads among pigs through direct or indirect contact. The major symptoms of swine flu in pigs include fever, depression, breathing difficulties, continuous coughing & sneezing, eye redness or inflammation & not eating properly.
Human beings who are directly in contact with pigs get infected with this virus, mostly the people working in pig farms.
It spreads from person to person. It majorly spreads through saliva and mucus particles, by inhaling the virus when an infected person sneezes, coughs, touches surfaces that are contaminated with the virus, and then touches the mouth, nose or rubbing eyes.
Symptoms of Swine Flu
Swine flu infected person can have:-
- The fever higher than 101° F
- Continuous pain in the muscles
- Body pain
- Poor appetite
- Running nose
- Chest congestion problem

- Wash your hands frequently
- Use sanitizer
- Avoid touching your face repeatedly
- Wear surgical masks for protection
- Better to stay away from sick person
- Good to avoid crowd & busy places
- Good to avoid shaking hands & kissing
- Have a close eye on your children health

Don’t go to work or school when you are sick. Stay at home, cover your face & body properly, avoid contacting other people to save them from infection and consult your general physician without any delay.
